What Is Disasterfield Readiness?

Disasterfield is VEXSL’s smart disaster intelligence communications system designed to connect all who operate in the readiness, response and recovery phases of disaster management and public safety. It connects a complex integration of satellite and ground based data, aircraft sensors, communications hardware, and artificial intelligence to monitor threats like wildfires in near real time.

Why Join?

By becoming part of the Disasterfield GMUCS, you're not just signing up for protection—you’re joining a movement to shape smarter emergency readiness across rural Canada. You’ll have a fully documented plan, digital notifications, and logistical support to protect what matters most.

What Is Disasterfield for

Search & Rescue?

Search and Rescue (SAR) teams are tasked with some of the most dangerous and demanding missions in disaster response — entering unstable environments to locate, assist, and extract victims under extreme conditions. Whether deployed to wildfire zones, flooded regions, avalanche paths, collapsed buildings, or remote wilderness, SAR teams face unpredictable threats that can change by the minute. Too often, these missions are carried out with delayed intelligence, fragmented communication, and little visibility into evolving hazards — putting rescuers and survivors at even greater risk.

Disasterfield was designed to close this gap and give SAR teams a clear advantage in the field.

At the center of Disasterfield’s support for SAR is the creation of a dedicated Risk Reduction Zone — a digitally geofenced area around the mission site, base camp, or operational footprint. This zone is continuously monitored in real time using a combination of satellite imagery, UAV and drone reconnaissance, AI-powered environmental analysis, and live ground sensor data. Every change in conditions — from shifting firelines and rising floodwaters to landslide risk and wind patterns — is tracked and displayed instantly.

The moment a threat crosses into the zone, the system sends immediate SMS and email alerts to designated team leaders, complete with actionable data and a live map of the situation.

This real-time monitoring enables SAR teams to maintain constant situational awareness, even as conditions deteriorate. Teams no longer need to rely solely on verbal updates or wait for delayed public advisories. Everyone — from field responders to command staff — can see the same, accurate picture of the operational area, ensuring faster, more informed decision-making.

Disasterfield also provides SAR teams with a customized Smart Emergency Logistics Plan (SELP) tailored to the unique demands of search and rescue operations.

This plan includes:

  • Predefined staging zones, command posts, and medical triage locations

  • Asset deployment and personnel assignment strategies optimized for the threat

  • Safe ingress and egress routes for vehicles, boats, or helicopters

  • Communication protocols that work even in degraded or congested networks

  • Coordination workflows for working alongside fire, law enforcement, EMS, and volunteer groups

  • Evacuation pathways for rescued victims and fallback points for teams if conditions worsen

For multi-agency missions, Disasterfield enables seamless collaboration by giving everyone a shared, live operating picture. This minimizes confusion, avoids duplication of effort, and helps prioritize areas of highest need.

Key benefits for SAR teams include:

  • Faster Mobilization: Deploy teams and equipment with full awareness of on-the-ground risks.

  • Improved Safety: Keep rescuers informed about real-time hazards to avoid unnecessary exposure.

  • Efficient Coordination: Work effectively with other agencies using a single, unified platform.

  • Better Outcomes: Respond faster, locate victims sooner, and reduce time-to-rescue in chaotic conditions.
  • Post-Mission Review: After action, review data and refine plans for future missions.

By combining advanced monitoring technology, tailored operational plans, and resilient communication, Disasterfield ensures that SAR teams can focus fully on what matters most: saving lives — while staying safe themselves.

Whether deployed in a remote wilderness search, urban collapse scenario, or fast-moving wildfire evacuation, SAR teams equipped with Disasterfield gain the clarity, coordination, and confidence to execute missions successfully, even in the most extreme environments.

Frequently asked questions

Got questions? We've got answers.

Here’s everything you need to know before getting protected with Disasterfield Global Multi-User Coordination System .

Why is the Disasterfield Global Multi-User Coordination System needed now?

During disasters, multiple agencies often lack shared communication and situational awareness. Disasterfield fixes this by providing a unified system for Tier 1–4 users, delivering clear information, system health monitoring, and end-to-end support so responders can focus on their mission, not technical hassles.

How is Disasterfield different from current information-sharing platforms?

Most alert systems are delayed, broad, and generic. Disasterfield is immediate, local, and specific to your property. It ingests open-source and core data to monitor threats in real time. If a wildfire or flood crosses your geofence, you get a direct text and email with clear instructions—no app to check, no missed alerts, just actionable information when it matters.

How do remote communities benefit?

For Indigenous and remote communities, becoming Disasterfield Ready enables full communications and situational awareness to protect people and assets. Communities can geofence their borders, mark assets and culturally sensitive sites, and share this information with other Disasterfield users to improve safety and reduce loss or displacement during disasters.

Is Disasterfield public-facing?

No. Disasterfield sends alerts directly to registered users, not the general public. Our goal is to provide early, actionable alerts to reduce stress and allow informed action while public agencies handle broader communications.

What threats does Disasterfield detect?

Disasterfield currently monitors wildfires, floods, and environmental emergencies using satellites, UAVs, IoT sensors, and integrated data feeds. We will expand to severe weather, power outages, and additional threats as we grow, giving you the time to act when your safety is at risk.

Does Disasterfield help with insurance?

Yes. Being Disasterfield Ready shows insurers you are actively reducing risk, which can help lower premiums and strengthen claims. The system documents your proactive measures, providing proof you had a plan in place when disaster struck. We recommend discussing potential discounts with your broker once connected.

Is Disasterfield only for homeowners?

No. Disasterfield connects all users from property owners, agricultural, businesses, resorts, Indigenous communities, municipalities, parks, and emergency agencies. From ski resorts and contractors to families and local governments, Disasterfield scales to your needs and provides a turnkey connection point.

Can renters benefit from Disasterfield?

Yes. Disasters threaten your safety and belongings, not just the building. Renters receive the same monitoring, alerts, and support as owners, helping you protect yourself and your possessions.

How hard is it to set up?

Setup is fast and guided. As a Tier 4 user, you simply tell us what to protect—your home, property, or facility—and we geofence it. We help you build a personalized emergency plan, including evacuation plans for pets, livestock, and vehicles. Once connected, your zone is active and protected. No hardware is needed for Tier 4 users. Tier 1–3 users (businesses and agencies) can add equipment as needed for operational requirements.
