Splatsin and VEXSL Announce Historic Partnership: Splatsin Becomes Canada’s First Indigenous Community to Join VEXSL’s Disasterfield Network

Enderby, BC – August 28, 2025

Splatsin and VEXSL Canada are proud to jointly announce that Splatsin has become Canada’s first Indigenous community to join the Disasterfield Network. This milestone marks a powerful advancement in Indigenous-led emergency preparedness, with Splatsin now officially recognized as “Disasterfield Ready.”

Splatsin is the southernmost member of the Secwépemc (Shuswap) Nation, which comprises 17 remaining bands throughout British Columbia that holds the largest territorial land boundaries in the province, stretching from the Okanagan Valley to Revelstoke and as far north as Williams Lake. The partnership reflects a bold and innovative step toward modernizing emergency management while preserving Indigenous sovereignty, cultural identity, and traditional knowledge systems. With evolving man made and natural disaster threats, Splatsin views the Disasterfield system as a way to break down silos between government agencies and indigenous governments while establishing resiliency in communications and intelligence to best prepare for, respond to and recover from the unknowns of disasters.

By implementing VEXSL’s Disasterfield Global Multi-User Coordination System, Splatsin is building a next-generation emergency management infrastructure based on intelligence, interoperability, and real-time data sharing. The system enhances connectivity within the community’s day-to-day operations and with external partners who are also on the Disasterfield network, operating across all phases of disaster readiness, response, and recovery inc. This includes government agencies, businesses and private/public stakeholders.

Disasterfield’s proprietary system architecture integrates cutting-edge technologies such as AI, Blockchain with a TAK-based user interface, delivering real-time situational awareness, redundant communications, and comprehensive operational visibility all driven from aerial & ground sensing technologies, advanced communications hardware and a turnkey support and system monitoring service. This empowers local leadership while maintaining full information sovereignty and ensuring that response strategies are both community-driven and technologically advanced.

"It Won’t Happen to Me" Is the Most Dangerous Mindset — And How Disasterfield Helps You Get Ready Anyway
Every year, thousands of homeowners and business owners suffer devastating losses because of one false belief: “It won’t happen to me.”
Why Disasterfield Is the Protection Every Property Needs
Natural disasters are no longer rare. They're constant, escalating, and striking harder than ever before. From wildfires and floods to severe weather and environmental threats, the risks facing homeowners and businesses today are real — and growing. Traditional public alert systems are outdated, delayed, and often leave you reacting too late.
Penticton’s Flood and Fire Risks: How Disasterfield Enhances Community Safety
Penticton, nestled between Okanagan and Skaha Lakes, is renowned for its natural beauty. However, its location also makes it susceptible to natural disasters like floods and wildfires. Recent events have underscored the importance of robust emergency preparedness.
